How I Wore It :: Breezy Zoo Dressing

Originally I was not planning to make a What I Wore post out of this outfit. I mean it's not really anything special. We were just going to the zoo. Then I arrived at the zoo and decided, yes, people definitely need inspiration for zoo dressing! Too many people were in the standard jean shorts or heavy khakis with a tight cotton tee. That is definitely not the best way to dress for the zoo, at least not in Texas when it can already be smoking hot outside in April.

I knew we would be walking - a lot - and would not be in air conditioning the vast majority of the time. Taking those details into account I put on a very lightweight, breezy and loose white shirt {if you paid attention in 4th grade science class you know that dark colors absorb heat from the sun and light colors reflect it}, and a pair of bright {duh} shorts - a light cotton, much cooler temp wise than khakis or jean shorts.

Now I don't know about you, but I don't really like walking around in flip flops for extended periods of time...especially when I'm pushing a gigantor child in a stroller up steep hills. Plus, I am in love with my new shiiiiiiny Sperry's! Wear them everywhere. Even with the new blisters they have given me. We are friends. They are super comfy to boot which made them a great option for our zoo excursion.

And you know me - I had to spice it up with some fun accessories/chewing items for Big Squish.

Shirt - Theory, Shorts - J.Crew, Necklace - Miu Miu, Silver Chain Bracelet - David Yurman {25th bday gift from Bizzle! Love you honey}, Other bracelets - my standard ones, Sunglasses - Ray Ban silver mirrored aviators, Watch - Michele

He thinks smile means stick out your tongue. Great.

Hey, Squish, look at the HUGE real life dragon in front of you! LOOK Big Squish look!!!! It is ENORMOUS! Right in front of youuuu!
.....What on earth are you pointing at that is sooo much more interesting than the dragon?.....
Oh.
Right.

Moral of the story: you can look cute AND be comfortable at the same time even in very warm weather. Perfect :)

  1. I love the metallic Topsiders. They bring back fond memories of the 80's when we used to twist the ties into curly-q's.

That just dated me, dind't it? Ugh.
