Sleep is good.

Image courtesy of Dr. Lill

This is what happens when you don't get enough sleep and are taking care of a sick, teething child with piles of work to do:

- at night when you go to put on your pajamas, you put on a sports bra and exercise clothes instead {I mean, really?? What on earth possessed me to do this I have no idea}
- you find your house keys in the refrigerator
- you try to unlock your house door by pressing the buttons on your car keys...when the door wasn't even locked in the first place

True stories.

Oh and also! Been meaning to share this mini home project with you. Be warned it isn't even close to a knock-your-socks-off before and after room makeover, but I am relieved it is done.

Last Friday - as if I didn't have enough to do - I finally got fed up of toys being scattered in every room of the house. We had Tonka trucks in our bedroom, excavators in the kitchen, stuffed animals in the entrance hall, Thomas the Train engines in my bath tub, tricycles in the dining room and a wagon in the living room, not to mention the 48,973 Hot Wheels cars covering every square inch of floor and furniture in between. We have a big cedar closet in our home that was being used as storage, see:

Well, 99% of the stuff it was storing was junk so I put on my Wonder Woman belt and decided it had to go. It went from that to this in 24 hours:

I only filled it with things we already had around here, like the old Anthropologie rug from our kitchen - and half of the furniture is positioned to block doors to the attic and water heaters - so it is a big mish mash of stuff, but it is fulfilling its role of New Playroom beautifully and I am proud of myself for getting it done!! Pat on the back for me :)

Then I went to the grocery store and wondered why people were giving me funny looks. {More funny looks than usual I mean}. Walked by a mirror when I got home and it looked like I had been rolling around in mud. Mental note: Clean dirt off face before leaving house.

But it was ok because while I was at the grocery store and Walgreens I saw this!

My magazine cover! So amazing to see it mixed in with Time and GQ. Made my week. Next goal: cover of Glamour! :D

7:28pm. Both babies asleep. One last scoop of chocolate almond butter. Bedtime.

xoxo Sheridan

  2. I guess you won't have any problems with moths eating elmo anymore... eh?

    Congrats on the fabulous cover & just thought you should know that I've stored lots of your home photos/ideas in my inspiration folder for our new house. AND, I also thought you should know that I very much appreciated your advice about what I should/shouldn't wear to my graduation. I ended up finding a long Halston-ish looking dress in royal blue from Elements in Dallas (I believe they carry your line) and paired it with simple gold jewelry, gold sandals and some beachy waves in my hair. It was a success. Thanks, Sheridan!

  6. Great job with the playroom! That rug is gorgeous, hopefully the pattern will hide any spilled paint just in case the babies want to do art in there!!!Munchkin looks so adorable in that toy/seat she is in!!! Big Squish looks so excited about the room :) And congrats about the cover, you deserve it. You must have wanted to say to everyone around you "that's mine!"
