New Year's Resolutions + Going Forward

Image via Paperless Post

So, anyone broken some resolutions already? I have yet to nail mine down, however I don't believe resolutions should be left to solely one day per year. There is always room for improvement around March, July, and definitely November {eat less Halloween candy next year is one that comes to mind...} What are your resolutions? Number 9 on the list above will NOT be one of mine, but I am quite fond of Number 10 ;)

Most importantly, thank you all so much for continuing to come back to my silly little blog. I remember one year after I started The Southern Eclectic, I sent out an email to friends and family thanking them for helping me to reach 100 followers. I was truly blown away I ever hit that number. Even though compared to mega-blogs like A Cup of Joe or Garance Dore I am still a teeny fish in a big sea, I am pinching myself I ever hit the 1000 mark and feel so blessed to continue to grow...all because of you guys. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading. It truly means the world that you check into my little corner of the web every now and then. I wish I had more time to post - I really do - as I started this before I even began my clothing line. It is a wonderful outlet and escape for me, and I hope to write more often this year. Maybe since I am going to quit having babies for a while that will actually happen?!

My blog resolution: do more of what YOU want rather than selfishly posting pictures of my kids ;) What top 5 things would you want me to regularly blog about? What top 5 "special" posts would you like to see?

Happy 2013! Here's to ALL of our best year's yet!!!

  1. Darling Sheridan, you are too cute! I love your blog -- it has served as a beacon of levity and healthy lifestyle-ness. I would LOVE more paleo recipes; more "How I Work It" [and maybe even a "How To Wear It On A Budget" follow up post?]; home decorating tips; and, maybe even some party-throwing tips!

  2. Hi Sheridan,

I'd like to know more about your skincare, make up and hair routines! I really like your eye make up! (Yes, I know you did an eyeliner post and I've read a couple dozen times trying to recreate it -- but I'd love to know other tricks as well! :))

It would be cool to hear more about you personal likes/dislikes/habits/history/quirks as just simply you, sans hubby and kiddos. :)

And more YouTube videos! YouTube's how I escape :)

    Thanks,
    Sarah B. McKinny

  4. I'd love to learn more about workout routines, how you manage to take care of yourself with everything else in life you juggle, etc.

I have to say, I tend to shy away from too much bold color in my personal style because I become afraid of standing out or maybe it's not as "trendy," but I LOVE how you own color in your style. Thanks to you I'm trying to be more brave. :)

  16. I love How I Wore It, and anything interior design related. (electric blue post was my fave in 2012!) And anything that is a tiny bit self-deprecating I think would make everything else you do seem even more amazing, a la Erin Gates from Elements of Style--her resistance to having her picture taken makes her so seem so relatable and unvain... being honest about the aspects of one's self that aren't perfect makes perfect-seeming girls irresistable. ;)

  17. Happy New Year! I always love seeing how you accessorise and style outfits – always inspired. I would love more accessorising tips/inspiration especially a how to achieve the look even on a miniscule budget. Plus an instagram or link-up challenge to get your readers exercising their fashionista muscles would be so much fun.

  18. Love your blog-keep posting what you love! Ditto on the paleo recipes-they are wonderful! I always love seeing the "How I Wore It" posts, and fabulous shots of your awesome house! Real life design is always so much more interesting to me than the glossies (though I'm addicted to those too...)
    Thanks for posting-love the blog!

  19. Sheridan, will you ever discuss your early divorce on your blog or is that too personal? I think it would be a helpful topic for anyone going through it, and there's nothing more real than that. It's a rare thing to read on a blog. Women love support.

    1. Hi Anon ~ Wish you would have put your name if you know me! I love seeing people I know read the blog!! Thankfully we were able to have that annulled since it lasted for such a short time, and honestly I have never considered posting about it since there was not some nasty ending or messy problem involved. I don't feel I can offer anyone support as a result of it since it was almost a Britney Spears's wedding in Vegas time frame ;) It was simply a "we were too young" situation. There is absolutely no bad blood between us and we wish each other very well. We are fortunate to have it been able to end as well as it did! Thanks for posting and enjoy the rest of your week xoxoSF.

  20. I agree with Anonymous - I've often hoped you would talk about your first marriage, as I've been through something very similar myself - unfortunately I haven't yet found my Biz, so you are a true inspiration! Love your blog - more pics of the beautiful babies too please! Lana xxx
